Travel Insurance
It is a fact of booking
travel overseas,
that the sole responsibility lies with you to ensure that you carry
the correct comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover yourselves, as
well as any dependants/traveling companions for the duration of your trip. Consider covering the following eventualities: cancellation or curtailment of the
trip, emergency evacuation expenses, medical expenses, returning to the USA
for medical treatment expenses,
damage/theft/loss of personal baggage, money and goods.
OTG Adventures wishes to remind you to be responsible or liable for loss, damage, or theft of
personal luggage and belongings, for personal injury,
accident or illness. Please ensure that you and your belongings are adequately
insured before your departure. Insurance is strongly recommended when travel
takes you far from home and your usual medical provider.

Trip Insurance We offer it for your consideration, or
you may use Google to search "Travel Insurance" on your own. You would
best be served to have insurance for your health and travel.
Health Insurance
We strongly recommend you to have full medical, emergency
evacuation and repatriation cover for the period of time you are away for each
member of your party. Remember, this is for your own protection and
safety. Accidents can happen anywhere. Unfortunately when you are
8000 or more miles from home, the cost of medical evacuation (We really do know
this stuff, we work in medicine in Alaska where it can cost $25,000 or
more to get home to your own doctor's care. We also recommend "Flying
Doctors" insurance for in-Kenya air transportation from the safari location to
Nairobi hospital for initial treatment, prior to repatriation home to the USA.
Cancellation of travel:
You might have to cancel or curtail your journey due to
unforeseen circumstances. If for any reason you cancel a trip close to departure
date, you could lose the entire cost of your holiday. Should you have to leave
before your holiday is finished, we cannot refund you the cost of the portion of
the package you do not complete. In the eventuality of this happening, insurance
may cover you, depending on the reason for cancellation and curtailment.
Review your policy with your agent.
Baggage & Money Insurance
It is reasonable to take out baggage and money insurance,
especially if you are carrying a lot of cash or expensive and valuable camera
equipment. You should always carry such equipment as "carry-on" luggage. Do not
put anything of value in your checked-in baggage! When traveling in poor
nations, it is best to leave jewellry at home, and not carry large amounts of
cash in the first place. A money belt for credit cards, cash, and passport
is a good investment. See
Luggage for more information.
Claims
If you anticipate an insurance claim upon your return, be sure to
document as accurately as possible any accident, injury or loss. Doctor’s notes
and police reports will aid any claim. Remember, after all is said, any
insurance company may try to deny a claim, and documentation helps you make your
case if arbitration becomes necessary.
